Spotted thistle is a plant that has purple flowers and pale green leaves with white veins. Preparations from the fruits (seeds) of the spotted thistle are traditionally used. They contain various flavonoids, collectively known as silymarin. Among them, the most important are silybilin, silycristin and silydianin. Milk thistle helps protect the liver so that it can perform its normal function.
