Mummy resin, also known as shilajit mineral resin, has been extracted high in the mountains of the Himalayas, Altai and the Caucasus for thousands of years. During this time, it became part of the traditional use of the local people. It has always been considered a very valuable raw material even in traditional Ayurveda. Mumijo is a brown or black resin formed from long-decomposed plant biomass in mountain crevices. Its formation is an extremely long-term process. During the summer months it becomes a soft, tar-like substance and in some parts it creeps down the slopes. That’s why they call it “mountain tears”. It contains many mineral substances and organic acids, of which fluvic acid stands out. The resin is collected by experienced collectors, who then purify it and grind it into powder.
